If your WordPress theme supports it, you can turn on excerpts in WordPress and get different text showing up when you list your posts on your home page or category/archives pages. It’s easy to do.
In this short video, I show you how to turn on excerpts in WordPress and then I explain what kind of text to put in there. If you put the right text in, you’ll be able to get more people interested in your articles.
When you get more people wanting to read your articles, you’ll get more views, which is more traffic, which is more people hanging around your website and that can turn into more leads and sales (conversions). You can even use this technique to get more people signing up on your email list.
It just seems like WordPress excerpts were hot at one point and then they died out for some reason. Even now, when I install WordPress on a new website, I have to turn this feature on and it seems like it used to be on automatically or by default before.
It’s a useful feature that can help make your website look more professional and it can help keep more people around your website reading more. They’ll even want to get notified when you post new content and they’ll opt-in to your list.
