Every time I start a new WordPress site, I always do a few things right away:

1. I change from the admin user.

2. I configure some of the settings.

3. I delete some of the preinstalled content and plugins.



Why I have a love / hate relationship with plugins:


Many plugins have settings to be configured when installed and activated on your WordPress site. The way they are configured depends on your site in particular.

To find the settings for a plugin, from your WordPress Dashboard, hover over Plugins in the left column and click Installed Plugins. Then hover over the plugin name and click the Settings link.

The easiest way to configure the Yoast SEO plugin is to work through the Configuration Wizard which is clearly visible when you first open the plugin settings.
