Basic install of WordPress using Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 and a Bitnami stack

A simple approach to installing WordPress on a Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 server using a Bitnami stack.

NOTE: Althought I’m on a Mac on this video, you can easily use Putty (free) or any other terminal program on PC to SSH into server.

Commands used in the video:

1) Key File Permission Change:

CHMOD 600 yournamedkeyfile.pem

2) Connect to server via SSH/Terminal:

ssh -i “yournamedkeyfile.pem”

3) Disable BITNAMI Banner:

sudo /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/bnconfig –disable_banner 1

4) Install Sendmail

sudo apt-get install sendmail

4a) Open up php.ini file via nano editor

sudo nano /opt/bitnami/php/etc/php.ini

4b) Find and uncomment out this line, so it reads like this:

sendmail_path = “env -i /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i”

Exit and save the file.

4c) Restart php-fpm using this command:

sudo /opt/bitnami/ restart php-fpm

5) If anything is not working properly, do a full reboot via this command:

sudo reboot

In future videos I will explain how to tunnel your computer so that you can connect to phpMyAdmin to add/edit/delete databases. I will also show you how to connect to your server via FTP client, and how to install an SSL certificate.

*NEW* Install SSL Certificate walk thru here:
